Dovška Baba (1,891 m) in the Karavanke above Dovje offers something no other mountain does: a face-on view of Triglav’s north wall — the entire legendary face lines up across the valley like a stage set, flanked by Škrlatica and the Martuljek group, with Austria at your back. In May the slopes bloom; in winter Baba is a favourite ski-touring goal.
The marked trail starts in the village of Dovje (~700 m): through forest and hay meadows you reach the Dovška Rožca pasture (1,652 m) with its herders’ hut in ~3 hours, and the grassy summit is 45 minutes more. Allow about 6 hours round trip and ~1,100 m of ascent — a genuine mountain day, though technically easy throughout.
The summit stands on the Austrian border; the ridge is open and exposed, so avoid it in storms. After the descent, the nearby Peričnik Waterfall — the tallest waterfall in the area — makes a perfect cool-down stop.
