A viewing balcony above the Krma valley — 2,014 m with the finest view of Triglav's north face, past the Lipanca hut.
Debela peč (2,014 m) is the highest summit of the ridge encircling the Pokljuka plateau and one of the finest Triglav viewpoints anywhere: the mighty north face gapes straight ahead, while the Krma valley drops away 1,000 metres beneath your feet.
The trail from Rudno polje is gentle and pleasant: through forest and across mountain pastures to the Lipanca hut (1,630 m), then past the Lipanca gate onto the ridge and along it to the summit. Nothing is technical, but the length — a good four hours of walking — asks for solid fitness.
Return the same way or make a loop over Brda and Lipanca. In summer the Lipanca hut serves homemade štruklji dumplings almost as famous among hikers as the view. In fine weather this is Pokljuka’s most beautiful tour.
