About the trail
Trail description
Ojstrica (611 m) is the most popular viewpoint above Lake Bled — most of the postcards you know were shot from this very rock. The trail starts at the Velika Zaka car park and climbs a steep but short 90 vertical metres through mixed forest: in 20 to 30 minutes you’re on top.
From Ojstrica the perfect view opens up: the lake, the island church, Bled Castle and the Karavanke behind. The finest light comes at sunrise, when mist lies on the lake surface and photographers from around the world gather. The bench on the rock may be the most romantic proposal spot in the region.
Extend the hike along the ridge to Mala and Velika Osojnica and return on a circular route — a good two hours of walking with unforgettable views.
Safety information
- The trail is steep but short — fine for families.
- Roots and rocks get slippery when wet; hiking shoes recommended.
- In winter snow, use micro-spikes.
