About the trail

Trail description

Grmečica near Bohinjska Bela is one of those corners the crowds haven’t discovered yet. The Belica stream drops about 15 metres into an emerald pool at the end of a short gorge — the same one used for popular canyoning trips.

From the car park at Bohinjska Bela railway station, a marked path leads through the forest and across a small wooden bridge to the fall — a relaxed 15–20 minute walk, fine for families. The path crosses the Bohinj railway line, so cross with care.

Visiting is free. The fall is prettiest in spring and after rain; in summer the shaded gorge is a pleasantly cool refuge, and the pool tempts the bravest to an icy dip.

Safety information

  • The path crosses the railway line — cross carefully.
  • Rocks by the pool are slippery.
  • Keep clear of the fall at high water.
