About the trail

Trail description

Galetovec (1,265 m) is the best-kept secret of Bled locals. From the viewing edge just below the summit, one panorama unites everything: Lake Bled with its island far below, the Karavanke behind, and Triglav above the Pokljuka forests — without the crowds of Ojstrica and Osojnica.

The loveliest route leads from the village of Kupljenik through mixed forest, past hunters’ stands, to the Galetovec alpine pasture and the viewing edge. The climb is steady and never exposed, but with 750 vertical metres it’s serious enough that you earn the view.

The tour links nicely with Babji zob (shared ridge), while on a quiet autumn Sunday Galetovec alone is the perfect choice. Since hardly anyone knows the summit, you’ll most likely have the viewpoint bench to yourself.

Safety information

  • The viewing edge tops a precipice — stay careful near the rim.
  • Markings are patchy in places; follow signs for the Galetovec pasture.
  • Not recommended in snow; the slope is steep.
