Gostilna pri Planincu

Gostilna pri Planincu is a Bled institution — open since 1903, it has fed hungry travellers, locals and a growing crowd of international guests without interruption. Walls covered in football jerseys and retro posters tell a century of stories, while the kitchen smells of true Gorenjska classics.

You won’t find dainty tasting plates here: portions are homey, generous and honest. Kranjska sausage with cabbage, goulash with polenta, fresh trout from nearby rivers and štruklji for dessert — all cooked the way Gorenjska grandmothers did. Downstairs a lively tavern, upstairs a quieter dining room for families and groups.

Summer crowds are real, so come before noon or book ahead. Prices are moderate for Bled, and the quality is why guests have returned for decades.
