Slovenia's most famous waterfall — a 78-metre double stream in the shape of the letter A, feeding Lake Bohinj.
Savica is Slovenia’s most visited waterfall and the inspiration for the nation’s greatest epic poem. Water from the karst plateau above plunges 78 metres in two streams forming the distinctive letter A, feeding the emerald Lake Bohinj below.
The trail starts at the Savica Hut, reached by road from Ukanc on Lake Bohinj (a good half-hour drive from Bled). A well-maintained path with roughly 500 stone steps leads to the viewing platform — the climb takes 20–25 minutes and suits anyone with basic fitness.
The waterfall is mightiest in spring during snowmelt and after rain; in summer, combine the visit with a swim in Lake Bohinj. Adult tickets cost around €4, children pay half.
