Medieval Days at Bled Castle

Every year in early June, Bled Castle — Slovenia’s oldest castle, first mentioned in 1011 — returns to the Middle Ages for a week. A knights’ camp rises in the castle park, where you can inspect weapons and armour, try knightly skills and chat with the castle gentry; the highlight is the closing weekend with performances by Slovenian and international medieval groups, a medieval market and workshops.

The event is included in the regular castle ticket, making this one of the best times of year to visit — you get living history on top of the famous lake view. Children collect points for completed challenges, turning the visit into a proper castle adventure.
