Gostilna pri Planincu

Gostilna pri Planincu is a Bled institution — it opened its doors in 1903 and has fed hungry travellers, locals and a growing crowd of international guests without interruption ever since. It stands in Bled’s old centre, a step from the bus station, with walls plastered in retro posters telling the stories of a good century.

You won’t find dainty tasting plates here: portions are homemade, generous and honest. Kranjska sausage with cabbage, goulash with polenta, fresh trout and štruklji dumplings — all cooked the way Gorenjska grandmothers did. The house has two faces: a lively ground-floor pub with one of the best beer selections in Bled (from Slovenian to Irish and German), and next to it a pizzeria with its own wood-fired oven — with a pleasant terrace and some of the best gluten-free pizzas around.

Summer crowds are real, so come early or book ahead (+386 4 574 16 13). Prices are moderate by Bled standards, and the quality is why guests keep returning for decades.
