Where to swim at Lake Bled: managed beaches, water temperatures and tips for safe lake swimming.
In summer, Lake Bled is more than a postcard — it’s one of the warmest Alpine lakes in Europe. By August the water reaches a pleasant 24 °C, making swimming a genuine pleasure rather than a heroic feat.
The most developed spot is the Castle Bathing Area right below Bled Castle: grassy terraces, a water slide, a kids’ pool, changing rooms and lifeguards. For a more natural setting, head to Velika and Mala Zaka on the western shore with grassy beaches and tree shade, while families with small children swear by the calm beach at Mlino.
Swimming is only allowed in designated areas — the central part of the lake is reserved for rowing lanes and pletna boats. And remember: the lake water is remarkably clean, so choose eco-friendly sunscreen to keep it that way.
