Few views rival Lake Bled from the air: the island, the clifftop castle and the emerald surface beneath your feet, with the Karavanke and Julian Alps behind. On a tandem paragliding flight you fly strapped to a licensed pilot, so no experience is needed — your job is a few running steps at take-off and enjoying the ride.

You land in the valley where transport waits. Prices start at ~€130 per person, and most operators offer flight footage (GoPro on a stick) for a surcharge.

Flying happens year-round, weather permitting — summer morning thermals are the sweetest. Dress warmly (it is noticeably colder at altitude), wear sports shoes and book a day or two ahead; in unsuitable weather operators reschedule free of charge.
