About the experience

Description

The countryside around Bled — meadows, forest tracks and Julian Alps views — makes lovely riding terrain, and the offer concentrates at two proven addresses.

The Lesce–Bled Equestrian Club has operated since 1962 at the hippodrome below Lesce, right beside Šobec camp and the Bled golf course, ten minutes’ drive from the lake. It offers arena riding lessons for all levels — from a child’s first circles to training for experienced riders — plus therapeutic riding with an experienced therapist and holiday programmes for kids.

Mrcina Ranch in the hamlet of Studor in Bohinj (25 minutes from Bled) is a fairytale of its own: a herd of mostly Icelandic horses carries riders on guided treks across the meadows and forests of Triglav National Park, past Bohinj’s famous hayracks. There are treks for beginners and experienced riders, a riding school, ponies for the youngest and winter rides through the snowy landscape.

For both: book ahead, wear long trousers and heeled footwear; helmets are provided on site.
