Climbing near Bled: Bodešče (~90 routes, south-facing) and Bohinjska Bela with the Iglica wall (~80 routes) — among Slovenia's finest crags.
Just minutes from Bled’s postcards hide two excellent natural crags that delight beginners and seasoned climbers alike.
Bodešče, above the confluence of the two Sava rivers, is a sunny, south-facing wall with roughly 90 bolted routes — from friendly grades for first touches of rock to lines that make veterans sweat. The southern aspect allows climbing in cooler months too, while in summer the wall is shaded in the morning.
Bohinjska Bela, beneath the dramatic Iglica wall right above the village, ranks by rock quality among Slovenia’s best crags: about 80 south-east-facing routes from beginner 4a upward, with a picturesque view of the village and the Sava valley. The smaller Kupljenik crag is nearby.
Independent climbing requires your own gear and belaying experience; beginners should hire a mountain guide or instructor through local agencies, who also provide equipment. Topos for both crags are on plezanje.net.
