About the experience

Description

In summer Lake Bled is not just a postcard — it is also one of the warmest alpine lakes in Europe: by August the water reaches a pleasant 24 °C, making a swim a genuine pleasure rather than an act of heroism. Our Bled Live page shows the current lake temperature.

Where to swim

The most developed spot is the Castle Bathing Area beneath the castle rock: grass terraces, waterslides, a lakeside children’s pool, changing rooms and lifeguards. 2026 prices: adults €12, students €10, children under 14 €6; entry drops by €2 after 3 pm, and Julian Alps: Bled card holders get 10% off. Open June to mid-September, 9:00–19:00 (to 20:00 in peak season), closed in rain.

Free swimming is at the maintained beach in Velika Zaka (shade, lawns, parking nearby) and the smaller beach at Mlino; you can also enter elsewhere along the shore wherever there are no reeds.

Tips

A morning swim gets you the magical glassy surface and zero crowds; afternoons have the warmest water. Jumping from the piers is not allowed, and swimming across the lake outside marked areas is discouraged because of the boats.

💡 If calm water isn’t cooling enough, try the lively kind: family rafting on the Sava (ages 6+, from €55) with free photos and pickup in Bled.
