Trail description
The Martuljek waterfalls hide in a wild ravine beneath Špik and the Martuljek mountain group — for many, the most beautiful mountain backdrop in the Julian Alps. The Lower Fall drops about 50 metres into a narrow gorge, while the mighty Upper Fall descends a full 110 metres in several steps.
The trail starts in the village of Gozd Martuljek (20 minutes’ drive from Bled). A scenic path with wooden walkways leads through the gorge to the Lower Fall — a good half-hour of moderate walking. The Upper Fall requires another hour of steeper climbing past the Ingot mountain hut; the final section calls for some care.
Visiting is free. Early summer brings the most water; in autumn the larches paint the ravine gold. With small children, we recommend the Lower Fall only.

- The gorge path is slippery in rain — hiking boots essential.
- The trail to the Upper Fall is steep; the final part is not for small children.
- Stay on the marked path; the ravine is a torrent bed.
